Ron ArtestLos Angeles Lakers basketball player, Ron Artest, apply for change of name to the court. The new name he wanted was eccentric, if not exactly strange. 

Artest's lawyer on Thursday (23/06/2011) local time the file already filed an application to the Los Angeles Superior Court to change its name to World Peace Metta. 

In the documents filed with the court, Artest said that the reason for renaming it is for personal reasons. Similarly, as quoted by the San Francisco Chronicles. 


Artest is born with the name Ronald William Artest Jr. will get the results after the Court issued a decision on 26 August. 

31-year-old now, Artest is very colorful career. In 2004 he had long been suspended due to hit the audience. Last year, he led the Lakers to win NBA and in April he received an award yesterday for his services to the community. 

Artest's desire to change the name is not the first NBA player to do. Lloyd Bernard Free to change its name to World B Free in 1981. The word 'World' is the nickname for Free is good at 360 degrees and dunk vertical leap which reaches 111 cm.
